Love your story and great site. Ironically, we are peers, I was born in 1968 and also have Celiac’s disease which I discovered this past summer. My Mother has had a small business selling traditional sugar cookies for the past 15+ years asd since my diagnosis has added a GLUTEN FREE version. It is only GLUTEN FREE and does use dairy as I told my Mom, make your cookies exactly as it is minus the GLUTEN. I have tried many many cookies that are NO DAIRY, NO NUTS, ORGANIC, NO SUGAR just juice sweetened…they are horrible. As a 42 year old father of 2 I realize cookies are never and will never be “great for you” but we all have are vices. One of mine is cookies at night! Anyway, we are just getting to market these cookies and would love to be on your site if affordable. Please visit my Mother’s site and you will she is a small little company who puts out a wonderful product. Also, if you have any advice on reaching out to the GLUTEN FREE community we are all ears. Thank you!!!

Shauna,
This is a longshot, but I am writing from Portland Maine and I am organizing a Gluten Free Event in our Whole Foods Market store. Do you do speaking engagements? We want to have a guest speaker for the event and I invite many vendors who have GF products to come to the store and sample their products, after the speaking engagement….
I also read (on your Blog) that you have a friend here in Maine who told you about the Celiac issue and was wondering if you ever get to Maine?
If you can’t join us for the GF event..perhaps we could arrange a book signing in our Whole Body Department which carries your book…. gluten-free girl.~which I happen to have on my desk as I write to you…
I enjoyed reading your website and blog…I wish you much joy and success.

I have a duaghter-in-law with celiac and her daughter who has just lost 30lbs and found her first boyfriend at age 18.

I was looking for a newletter from you to subscribe to so I could forward one to her.

Great site and will try to find a copy of your book-can you get it in a kindle version?
Thanks,
Mary Kay in Indiana

P.S. Mango margaritas are my new favorite thing: all you need is a Jose Cuervo pre-made bottle ( they come in a 6 pack). Place fruit from 2 mangos and a generous amount of ice ( 1 cup), and the cuervo. and blend till there is no
Ice cubes or mango. These are the best and it makes 3 1/2 drinks.

What a delightful website and your ‘dressing video’ really warmed my heart! I have been experimenting with gluten free cooking this last 6 months or so and I look forward to getting your cookbook. I know several people in the Montrose area whom I will be sending the your website info to in the near future. I just sent it to my sister Kerry who is living in Germany.
I especially loved seeing Rosemary involved in it as I truly enjoyed your parents and family when I stayed with Colleen when we were kids. Tell everyone hello for me.

Here’s the question…….. I am looking for almond flour. I have been told by the stores I shop that almond flour is the same as almond meal which is readily available. I noticed on this site in there was a comment that they are not the same and that to get almond flour you grind almonds to a fine flour. I have also read various versions of this which also include baking the flour to reduce the oil? I don’t have a flour mill and would just like to purchase it but can’t find it. I also checked with Bob’s Red Mill and he too has his packing to say almond flour/meal. Has anyone had this problem?

@Maxine ….I had the same conundrum! But I just have learned to go ahead and use what you have or can get. So, with the question still burning in my mind I made the multi-grain muffins first. And, held my breath? No. Because I had used my trusted kitchen scale to weigh the almond meal/flour and the Gluten Free Girl promises results with this. No matter what! The muffins? Exactly as promised.
