Meet Our Sponsors: Bakery on Main gluten-free oatmeal

Bakery on Main oatmeal

When we were on our New England potluck road trip tour in New England this fall, we were happy to bring food gifts with us for the people who attended. The companies that sponsored that tour sent along boxes of their food for our guests. One of the most popular foods? These these packets of instant gluten-free oatmealfrom Bakery on Main.

As you may know, Bakery on Main is one of our long-time sponsors, a company that makes great gluten-free food we like. The Bakery on Main gluten-free granola was the first one I tried after I learned that certified gluten-free oats were finally on the market. And I so appreciated having their gluten-free granola bars with us on our trip, particularly when the kiddo grew cranky from being hungry.

But it’s their instant oatmeal that is the fan favorite. These wholesome oatmeals contain certified gluten-free oats, but they also have chia seeds, flax meal, quinoa, amaranth, dried fruits, and good spices. These are a far cry from the overly sweet packaged instant oatmeals I ate as a kid.

Lu’s a fan of the carrot cake flavor and the maple mutigrain muffin. When she wakes up (between 6:20 and 6:40 every morning), she wakes up hungry. Sometimes she wants apples and cheese. Sometimes it’s yogurt and granola. But during cold winter mornings, she likes a bowl of oatmeal, fast.

When I was a kid, I loved the dried oats that fell out of a packet and turned into creamy oatmeal with a stir of hot water. Later, as an adult, I learned to love steel-cut oats and thick rolled oats without a package. Lu’s a kid. I don’t mind if she has some flavored oatmeals sometimes, especially when they come from Bakery on Main.

Bakery on Main has offered to send some of their flavored oatmeals to three lucky winners. Leave a comment about why you are interested in trying these and you might win. Winners will be chosen at random on Friday, February 7th

I would love to try your gluten-free oatmeal products, as I ‘am allergic to gluten. I just recently found out and was upset that I would not be able to enjoy my favorite foods. And one of them is oatmeal for
breakfast in morning. I ‘am sure your oatmeal is just as tastey as the regular gluten kind. Let me know if I’am a winner, and I will try your products anyways. Thanks, Sincerely Linda Ann…

Carrot cake flavored oatmeal? I am thinking I could get down with that. Maple? I would eat maple flavored just about anything. Thanks Shauna for sharing!

  3. Janet

I would like to win because it sounds like delicious oatmeal with good ingredients. Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. Ellyn

Oatmeal is my comfort food! also I’m trying hard to lose weight and if I eat oatmeal in the morning I can get through the morning without snacking. These look delicious!

  5. Lea

Carrot cake/oatmeal cookies are my husbands favorite sweet I make for him. What a fun treat to serve him carrot cake oatmeal.

  6. Grace

I’d love to try these! I’m a fan of oatmeal but don’t have it often since it’s a pain to make the stovetop kind on a weekday morning!

  7. Melissa E

It would be wonderful to have GF oatmeal you could stash for travel or hurried mornings. Things like this, which you share, really help me out because these items aren’t available in my stores. Thank you!

  8. Jamie

These look delicious! I am always in the lookout for good breakfast food for the kiddos and this would fit the bill.

  9. Enne

These oatmeals look yummy, but aside from the plain version there is as much sugar (13 grams in the carrot cake) in this as there are in the Quaker Instants (12 grams in the maple brown sugar version). Evaporated cane juice is the same as sugar, so while I like that this company uses ingredients like chia, flax, and amaranth, the amount of sugar gives me pause.

  10. Lindsay

It would be great to have something like this that’s quick for the kids in the morning. And carrot cake oatmeal sounds amazing!

  11. Janeth Gladden

I love to eat steel cut oats as well, but some mornings I just don’t have time to make them before work. I’d love to try instant oatmeal that’s gluten free!

  12. Susan

This would be great to have on hand for my daughter as she requires food without the gluten. Nicer than plain oatmeal !

  13. muglinka

I’m usually a yogurt girl, but after reading your post I think switching to instant oats might be the ticket for this incessantly frigid winter! (also omg carrot cake.)

  14. Frances Raabe

We buy gf oats at our co-op. My husband makes my oatmeal on chilly mornings. Some instant oatmeal packets would really be helpful on the days we are rushed. I’d like to try this brand especially the maple flavored one.

  15. Ginny

The packaged oatmeal was one of the sneaky foods with gluten. When I called the company, they said that gluten was added to make it creamier, but wasn’t listed as gluten; it was in “natural and artificial flavors.”

    1. Bill

      Hi Ginny,
Are you talking about our company or another gluten free oatmeal brand? I can assure you that no one from our customer service department would tell you we add gluten to our oatmeal. We make all of our products in a dedicated GFCO certified gluten free facility and we source our oats from Canada to ensure cross contamination does not happen. All of our products are tested at multiple stages in production to ensure this. There is no gluten in any of our products. Thank you.

  16. Linda

It would be lovely to have a GF oatmeal that is quick and easy and not filled with questionable additives. I don’t always make the time to fix overnight slow cooker oatmeal. Immediate gratification!

  17. Mandi

I just bought my first bag of Bakery on Main granola and I love it! I’m sure their oatmeal is just as delicious.

  18. Sabrina True

I would LOVE to try your gluten free oatmeal! I have been gluten free for about 18 months due to health problems and am always in search of new delicious products to try & share with my community of gluten free followers! The Carrot Cake Oatmeal sounds Amazing!

  19. Trina

I am Gluten Free but I hate the taste of cardboard. Please let me win so I can try something with flavour!!

  20. Kenny

I’d love to try Bakery on Main oatmeal. Oatmeal is my go-to breakfast during colder winter months and this looks very good with the added chia, flax, etc.

  21. Sarah

I am eliminating some gluten from my diet and miss oatmeal terribly; I’m just not sure how to be sure if it is g-f or not, so I haven’t been eating any. I am so excited to try these delicious-sounding products!

  22. Maria

My daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease last week. She is an oatmeal lover. I can’t find your brand locally, so it would be able to try your product before ordering in bulk online. Thank you for providing safe foods for celiacs!

  23. Laura

I’ve seen Bakery on Main, but never tried their products. The Carrot Cake flavor looks DELICIOUS!! I love oatmeal in the morning, and this would be a fun brand to try :)

  24. Tonya Yarbrough

I’m new to gluten free and love being able to try new products that will help me with the transition. Thank you so much for the information also.

  25. Sharon

I love Bakery on Main oatmeal. I’ve tried the maple but really love the strawberries and cream. I tend to eat these as a late night snack. I figure it’s healthier then cookies or ice cream, right? Love to try carrot cake!!

  26. Jennie

I’ve been craving oatmeal so much lately, but there aren’t really any options in my grocery store.

  27. Sue Spencer

I would love to try some of your different flavours . I had the good fortune of sampling your plain instant oatmeal at a gluten free expo in Vancouver last year. Amazingly delicious but so so hard to find here. I work out every morning and would love to eat your oatmeal for breakfast it has made an oatmeal lover out of me. Some of the other flavours sound amazing just wish I knew where to find them. That’s why I need some ;)

  28. Janet

Our daughters have severe food allergies. Our eldest has 43 anaphylactic food triggers. But she can eat oats! We’d love to try your products!

  29. Miriam

Thanks for this giveaway. Since going gluten free ghe hardest meal for me is breakfast. Wish me luck!

  30. Kayla Byers

errrmagosh! I have been on the hunt for GF instant oatmeal that is worth the money. I am hoping to win to see if it’s amazing as you say thus making it so that I can justify adding this into my treat budget. Thanks Shauna!

  31. Lauren

I love eating oatmeal before work for a hearty, stick with you breakfast, but I’m looking for something more flavorful. Down here there aren’t many options unless you order online, and I’d love to try out the great options out there! Sounds so yummy!!! Especially the carrot cake!

  32. Karmell

I’m always looking for new GF convenience items to try for my husband, who was diagnosed with celiac 4 years ago. We have overnight stays when traveling to watch our daughter play college basketball & like to have options available for him.

  33. jacquie

I’m a terrible breakfast eater and perhaps these would encourage me to give breakfast a go. and if not I would give them to a GF friend who is a breakfast and oatmeal eater.

  34. Dawne

There are so many GF products out there, but not so many available in my area. I sometimes buy them online just to try something new, but again, so many…

I recently tried Jovial pasta (OMG :) )and would love to try more of the products that you think are great :)

  35. Jen E

I have been gluten free since 2012 and am trying to slowly transition my son (he is 7). It’s been a tough battle, but I think this would help the morning struggle a lot :) Thanks for the opportunity!

  36. Monika

Ooooh, that sounds like a great breakfast option to lift me out of the winter doldrums a little! Maple Multigrain Muffin and Blueberry Scone sound especially tasty.

  37. Erin

With two celiac children I’m always looking for fast tasty healthy breakfasts. I would love to try these! Thanks for the giveaway!

  38. JL

I frequently travel overseas to areas where GF foodstuffs are hard to come by. Travel food like this would be the perfect addition to my suitcase!

  39. SharonT

I only learnt 6 months ago I’m gluten intolerant. This week we are starting to believe my 11 year old son may be as well. He is in mourning. However he loves carrot cake and as mummy is struggling to cook yummy GF food this porridge would make his day!

  40. Lisa

I would love to try the gluten-free oatmeal from Bakery on Main. My 14 year-old son is gluten tolerant and so am I. He does a lot of bike races in the Summer, so we do a lot of traveling. We go to some pretty remote places in Colorado and we always stay at hotels. They rarely have anything for breakfast that we can eat so it would be great to take this oatmeal so we could have a great breakfast before heading out to his race. Thank you!

  41. Stephanie

Try as I might, I cannot persuade my children that sugary instant oatmeal is nowhere near as good as the steel cut stuff. (I did get hubby to eat some with roasted pumpkin, maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice, though!) I’d love to give them something that meets their need for sweet and instant, but also makes me feel good about what they’re eating.

  42. Maggi

Oatmeal was my comfort food (and my pre-long-run fuel!) before my doctor asked me to try going gluten-free. I miss it, especially during this cold weather!

  43. Heather Baszynski

I’ve loved oatmeal but since having problems digesting wheat while having IBS Syndrome it’s difficult finding anything tastes good. Everything I like is always something I cannot eat! Totally stinks. Also its diffiuclt to know what is good when you dont have alot of money to spend. Its a ton of money for these products. I’m trying to do better it’s so difficult. I’m hoping.. cause I’m also a bad cook too! LOL

  44. Jessica

While I love my steel cut oats, there are some mornings when a quicker bowl of oatmeal would be most welcome. Especially one that has some nutrition and not full of sugar. That carrot cake flavor looks really good!

  45. Rebekah

I love Bakery on Main’s granola– the only kind I trust to be gluten free. I’d love to try this instant oatmeal for quick mornings.

  46. susan

Three months ago I was diagnosed with celiac. I am baking my own bread, and always looking for good gluten free products to try out. Some are good, some not so. I have heard that Bakery on Mains’ products are excellent, and would love to try them

  47. Christine Marie

I’d love o try the flavors sound so much more yummy than same ole flavors you always see plus it’s GF!

  48. Miriam

I love oatmeal in the morning .. It heats you up from the inside out ! We need it here in New England !

  49. Susan

I’m super interested in your gluten free oatmeal…all of them sound delicious! I’ve been struggling with the morning food problem since I’m starving when I get up in the a.m. and need something quick. Before gluten was a problem, I ate 12 grain toast, sometimes with peanut butter. I’d love to try your new products. Thanks!

  50. Ellie

I am just beginning my journey as gluten-free. I have a skin condition that requires me to be on tons of medication, but some studies have shown that removing gluten from my diet could help my skin (and my liver!). I had to painfully decline a bowl of oatmeal this morning, and would love to try a gluten free option!

  51. Julia

I would love to be able to eat gluten free oatmeal. Oatmeal has always been one of those things that I desperately wish I could eat, but even the gluten free oats upset my stomach. Not as bad as a full on reaction to gluten but still not fun. I wonder if I could tolerate these. Do any other Celiacs have this problem?

    Check out my blog! :)

You had me at Carrot Cake Oatmeal. I need a boost to my morning dull breakfasts.. this looks like the perfect antidote!

  53. Julie Lang

I am already a fan of Bakery-on-Main’s instant oatmeal; my go-to for morning mid-morning snack at the office. Winter has been wicked this year for many, including us here in Barrie, Ontario (Canada). Our local health food store only has room on the shelves for 2 flavours — Plain and Strawberry Shortcake (which is delish). I look forward to trying the Carrot Cake flavour when I find it.

  54. indhu

I love oatmeal and we usually have steel-cut oats everyday for breakfast at our home. But these instant oatmeal packets are so awesome for travel :)

  55. kat

as someone who eats packaged oatmeal before early morning workouts, i would love to try a healthier version. the carrot cake flavor looks especially appealing!

  56. Marjy

Before I had to break up with gluten, I always had a box of instant oatmeal in my desk drawer for those (all to frequent) days when I would run out the door without eating breakfast. Even though I know I can work it on my own with a little bit of planning, well, see above. I’d love to try some of these.

  57. Luanna

Just found your website — love the pictures! Going to try the smoked salmon potato cakes tonight. Can hardly wait.

  58. Dianne

I live in Connecticut. Compared to Seattle I am practically down the street from Bakery on Main and yet I did not know about their GF Oatmeal. I love breakfast, somedays I love it so much that I have second breakfast. Oatmeal would make a wonderful second breakfast.
While I hope to win, even if I don’t I will seek out the oatmeal and try it.
